Update 5 months later...I decided to keep these, even though they still wake me up at 3-4am with its "PLEASE CHARGE!" The charging case is only good for three full charges before it reads 0, but the latest development has caused me to finally drop this sad product to a one star, it's because it caused me to land in Urgent Care. I woke up one morning and the earbuds were off my ears, both of which I was sleeping on. I found one of the ear silicones was missing. Looked under the bed, shook out the sheets, checked my pillow case behind the headboard, pretty much everywhere. I figured, 'it'll turn up.' 3 days later I randomly started to get an earache, thought it was a typical ear ache, because weather was cooling down so fixed myself some ear remedies, tried cleaning with a swab. Over the next couple days, ear pain worsened, and I was starting to get concerned. It was now to where I'd push on my outer ear and there was sensitivity. Ibuprofen seemed to help. Fast forward a week later I'm getting an occasional tinge of pain in my head and neck, but my ear was feeling bad. One night the pain woke me up, and I decided that was enough. Headed to urgent care the next morning. Explained my theory to the doctor that maybe the earbud grommet may have been lodged inside my ear. When the doctor had peered into my ear, she said: "Oh! I'm going to need help." I asked is it in there? Her reply: "Yes." She and her assistant pulled the stuck silicone with some long skinny tweezers. When it was coming out, it felt like she was pulling out a piece of my ear internals. Not super painful, but there was definitely discomfort. The ear cushion you see in my pictures was the one pulled out along with the doctor's write-up. Did I throw the earbuds away? No! I threw away the cushions! Those things are way too small - way too flat to risk having inserted in my ears, especially at night being unconscious of my movements. You can see a side by side comparison to a normal cushion. For your safety, I don't recommend these earbuds, unless you toss out the ear cushions first.I'm not happy to begin with, using Bluetooth as I sleep. I prefer to not have any connected wireless devices in my bedroom, but my wired earbuds finally really annoyed me. These are not noise cancelling, which is fine, because I don't want that. My wife has a nightmare here and there and appreciates it when I wake her out of it. Also I need to be able to hear things that go bump in the night, I guess. Just think it's kind of lame to advertise noise cancelling when it's not. Don't expect anything extraordinary. The case reminds me of a toy coin case you'd buy at the dollar store. To open it you have to really pry it with both hands. When I finally got it opened there appeared to be an awkwardly placed mirror like circle inside. I thought it was a magnet at first, but soon realized after plugging it in, it was an LCD display, indicating charge percent plus two battery meters, just showing you each earbud is charging. The earbuds themselves have these really bright red LED's which stay on for a long time even after closing them in the case, along with the charging meters. Which is really weird seeing this in the dark for the first time, because looking over at my nightstand, I see this pale glowing face with two demon eyes looking at me. If that wasn't enough, opening the case in the dark was even more intimidating. As for performance, because I only listen to spoken voice tracks with barely any background music, I adjust my EQ with higher mids, so I can't really vouch for bass. We have sleep music playing in our room at night already, so these aren't for music for me. The notification voice is pretty loud. It tells you when you're connected or disconnected. Already since I tried them, I've had the left ear connection drop, but to reiterate what one reviewer said, the alert to charge the earbuds is loud and doesn't shut up until you either put them back in the case or stuff them under a pillow, and it would've been ok to receive the alert at 6am, maybe even 5am would've been ok, No, the voice said loudly "PLEASE CHARGE!" at 3:45am. That's only 4 hours of runtime on low volume playback... in the right ear! I pulled that one out and kept the left one in. 15 minutes later the other one alerted me: "PLEASE CHARGE!" Going to try these one more night and pop them in at 11:30pm and see where that goes. If it wakes me up again close to the witching hour, these things are going back to their homeland. Sad because I love the fit, they stay in, despite not having deep silicone ear inserts like typical earbuds, which is good, because you don't end up with sweaty moist ear canals, but yeah, one more try to see if pass or fail.
