Jaybird Freedom F5 Wireless In-Ear Headphones - Black Special Edition
I'm convinced whoever designed this product was sleeping at their desk.. They clearly didn't test it out because after 1 day of trying it out, I'm sending it back for the following reasons:1. Like everyone else has already said, the fit sucks. The earbud weighs LESS than the stupid remote/battery on the right side. That means if you're wearing it, it always drags down. Plus the fact it is only on one side, so you're bound to be irritated by the weird set up. I can't even wear this walking, how could anyone use this for working out as they're intended to?2. The earbuds are too light and angled away from the wearer.. Who thought that was good ergonomics? Majority of headphones are angled near 90 degrees and downwards so that gravity helps keep earbud in. These are angled at closer to 45 degrees as you can see in the pics. The earbuds themselves are the smallest I've ever seen and weigh almost nothing. It feels cheap for one thing since it's all plastic. But without any weight to it, it's constantly moving around which in turn contributes to the terrible fit.3. The proprietary charger - why would you do this? EVERYONE hates when companies do this. You lose it or forget to bring it and you can't charge the headphones. It's a separate clip/battery that has a micro usb port on it. BUT it snaps on like a Lego brick. Can you imagine snapping it on and off every day? It's bound to get loose and break since the clip and remote are both plastic. Once it breaks and the contact charge points don't touch correctly, there goes your headphones.4. Battery life is pretty bad too. I used it for around 2 hours commute back and forth and the battery was at 53% from full. There is no way anyone is getting 8 hours of continuous use out of this..Anyone who says the Jaybird Freedoms sound bad and/or are uncomfortable, aren't using/wearing them properly. The sound is equal to any top of the line Bluetooth headphones, if not better. You just need to figure out what earbud tip fits your ear canal best for complete sound enclosure. The accessories they provide in the box will allow to get just the right fit for your ears, to the point of forgetting you even have them in. While also providing what you need to secure the wire so it doesn't drag or pull with any head movement. Anyone who says different is just too lazy to figure it out. The battery charge clip allows for use WHILE charging, which is far more useful than other plug in styles, and gives the option for endless continuous use. They also give a small accessories bag to keep everything in, so losing it is actually hard to do unless you are just careless. I can promise you that if you take the time to figure out how to use these headphones properly, you will be amazed at how good they are. And don't forget to download the Jaybird My Sound app, which gives battery info and control of EQ.These earphones are actually pretty good. Some of the issues people talk about are sound quality and ear fit. Luckily I found a pretty good fit for my ear but if that's an issue, you can buy additional ear tips by decibulz which can shaped by warm water. Also I find that the sound quality is very good. But the thing is you need play around with the type of sound you want to hear, which you can customize using the app. This pair of earphones is a pretty good deal compared to other options which range from 100 to 150 dollars. The microphone is also pretty good which I tested by using these during phone calls. Overall I'm satisfied with what I bought.I have bought 5 of these over the last 2 years. I love them when they are working because I can fall asleep with them in while I'm listening to an audiobook (I need a somewhat flat profile). The problem is that the ear buds start popping off within a few weeks. That is a solvable problem by purchasing a bunch of extra earbuds. The really frustrating issue is that sometimes when they pop off, the connection gets messed up and I lose sound in one ear. Even that is workable, as I can still hear my audiobook in one ear. But, eventually, the other one invariably stops working. Granted, I'm sleeping on them every night, but you'd think they would last more than 5 months. Sigh. Time to buy another set. This is my second one. The first one I purchased lasted 4 years before it started failing and the battery lasted about 6 hours so naturally I felt confident with my purchase. I use them for listening to books while walking around the neighborhood and although it cut's out occasionally, they're okay for my two hour walks. The battery lasts about three hours so I just have to charge them daily. It's still not a bad value for the price. They're okay. Really difficult to get fitted to your ear. I have mine looped up and behind my ear but now they have connection issues and they are not even 6 months old. They do not like to stay in your ears even for something as mild as walking. Blue tooth range is not large so if you need to charge your phone there are issues. If you have them up and over your as the manufacturer shows the Bluetooth calls are bad. The microphone is behind your ear and people have trouble understanding you. I had no problems with the the shipper, time of shipping and packaging. The battery pack by costs as much as the headphones so don't lose itThe jaybird are one of the best sounding bluetooth headphones I've ever heard but there is just two too many design flaws, like you can't charge them without the clip and the clip gets lost by me SO easily AND a new charging clip cost WAY too much for a piece of plastic with some copper pins, also the Inline controls are really bulky, and finally the actual rubber earbuds fall out when I take them out of my ear and those cost extra as well, all in all they're more bad than good in my opinion. I would for some different ones like Bose or beats. 6/10They are not connecting to any device. The earphones are simply not appearing in the Bluetooth list of devices as it supposed to be. I tried following all the instructions from the jaybird website, as per reset, updated the latest version via USB... I'm just wasting my time. Completely disappointed. Special edition means only one set of ear clips and one silicone ear seal set. Suggest you get full package for first timer buy so you can find what fits you. I got it as replacement for the ones I have where wires failed after 2 years. It actually is slightly improved in sound quality than the older set so am happy and will get another as spare before these go off the market completely.
